Masculine Card Mania with Altenew Education Series Level 1

Masculine cards are hard for most of us.  If you aren't using tools or fishing equipment, most of us are at a loss.  This card goes in a completely different direction.  Dad gets a colorful and comfy chair on his special day,

SUPPLIES:

ALTENEW: Armchair Stamp Set

ALTENEW: Adorable Anthurium Stamp Set

ALTENEW INKS:  Jet Black,

ALCOHOL INK MARKERS:  Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Milk Chocolate, Sand Dunes, Citrus Burst, Soft Lilac, Firefly, Grass Field, Crimson, Ruby Red, Vanilla Cream, Caramel Toffee

Misti Stamp Tool

Embossing folder

White Cardstock , Cream Cardstock, Metallic Cardstock

A2 Card base

A2 Size White Card Layer

Pattern Paper

Let’s get started.  Stamp the plant, the chair an the lamp all on the same white cardstock.

There is a tiny leaf stamp on the chair set that we will use later.  You use the markers to color the chair, plant and potted plant.

Now comes the fun part.  Fussy cut all the pieces and trace the outside edges with a black marker.  It makes a big difference if you’re not great at fussy cutting.

Let’s switch gears and work on the background.  I used a plaid embossing folder to start the background.  The imprint came out nice.  A strip of printed cardstock that looks like a rug or tile glued to the bottom will create a landing place for all the pieces.

I added a mat layer in blue metallic cardstock.  Notice the art work hanging over the plant.  That space looked a little empty so I used the tiny leaf stamp and matted it with black cardstock.  I thought the lamp could use a little something too.

I took a yellow marker and drew lines from the bottom of the shade on the lamp.  It’s subtle but I think it adds an air of realism to the card.
I added a hand written sentiment and done.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.  Here’s a final look.

Altenew Academy “Easy Ink Blending”

You will do some ink blending to make this card but you may also discover a new way to make a shaker card without any special dies.  I love the way this card turned out… I hope you will too.  First a look at the card…

SUPPLIES:
A2 Card Base in White
Altenew Blooms of Friendship Stamp and Die Set
Altenew Fancy Greettings Stamp Set
Copic Markers
Altenew Emerald Ink
Gold Ink
3D Tape
Pop Dots
Wood Embossing Folder
Cover Plate Die

Let’s get started.  First, Cut out the cover plate and stamp the flowers and the sentiment ‘Hello Lovely’.

Color the flowers with Copic Markers.  I used Y04, YG09, G09, and G14 to color the leaves.  I used the lightest blue B000 and light brush strokes from the center out to color the big flower in the middle.  The flowers on either side were colored with Rv55 and RV09.  I used V04 and V17 on the little flowers.  I die cut the flowers and fussy cut the sentiment.

I took an A2 panel and used the Emerald ink to blend a background.  I started at the bottom and worked my way up to the top of the card.  As you add more ink to the bottom and slowly blend toward the top, you start to see a variation in the color from dark to light.

Trim a half inch off the top and 1.5 inches off the bottom.  Then cut a tiny piece, about an 1/8 inch off the side.  Put the card inside a plastic bag, add shaker bits… fold the bag to the back and tape with washi tape or painters tape.  It looks ugly but no one will ever see it.

Use Red Liner tape to adhere the bag to the A2 Card Base, leaving half an inch at the top.

Add 3D tape to the top and more to cover the open space at the bottom.

I rubbed the wood grain embossing plate with gold ink.  I added a sheet of white A2 paper inside and ran it through a die cut machine.  Cut a 3/4 in strip to cover the top and a 3 inch strip to cover the bottom of the card you’re making.

Glue the cover plate die cut to the card over the bag with the shaker bits and then add your two wood grain strips to the top and bottom.

All that’s left is to glue the flowers into place and add pop dots to the sentiment and you’re done.
Thanks for visiting.  Here’s a last look at the card.

Altenew Academy ALL ABOUT LAYERING ‘Clean and Simple Boutique Cards’

Hello again!  I'm taking another spin at the Clean and Simple Boutique Card.  This one turns a plain white base card into something kinda special.  So... let's get started.  Here's the final card:

SUPPLY LIST:

A2 CARD BASE

GOLD MIRROR CARDSTOCK

VERSAFINE ONYX BLACK INK

GOLD INK

CLEAR EMBOSSING POWDER

ALTENEW BOUQUET BASKET STAMP AND DIE SET

ALTENEW SENDING HUGS SENTIMENT FROM THE CLASSIC GREETING SET

DECORATIVE BACKGROUND DIE

Start by die cutting your decorative background die with the specialty cardstock.  I use gold mirror cardstock for this card.

Next, stamp the Bouquet Basket image with the Versafine ink on a piece of white cardstock.

Cover the stamped image with embossing power.  Shake off the excess powder and use your heat gun to melt the powder.

Now die cut the image.  Also cut extra blank pieces of paper with the Bouquet die.  Use black paper for these extra pieces.  We will glue them together to give a 3D look and offset one to create a shadow.

Now for the sentiment.  Stamp “SENDING HUGS” from the Altenew Classic Greetings set on white cardstock.  Use ink in a gold tone.  Now fussy cut the sentiment out and add 3D foam circles.

Almost there… glue the background element you cut in the mirror paper to the A2 base.

Now you have all the elements for a sweet little card to send to someone you care about.  All you have to do is stick everything down, I placed the sentiment in the circular space in the center of the card and off set that sweet little bouquet.

Here’s a final look.
