All About Layering 4: Lesson 7

In this lesson I learned how using mirror images can create balance in your design.  Here's what I came up with...

Supplies:
  • Build a Flower:  Hawaiian Coral Layering Stamp and Die Set
  • Altenew Inks:  Pure Graphic, Arctic, Caribbean Sky, Persian Blue. Sapphire, Fresh Lemon,
    Grass Field, Shadow Creek.
  • Versafine embossing ink
  • Nuvo fime detail embossing powder
  • 3D tape or pop dots
  • Cutting die that creates a doily
  • Sentiment from your stash
  • A2 White Card Base
This card was pretty easy to make... you just need two of everything.  I started with the background.  I used a tonic die that looked like half a doily.  The other option is to use an actual doily die and cut it in half.

Because of the size I placed the two dies on my card base so the straight edges created a space for my sentiment to go.  I'm using one from my stash that says "Have s beautiful day"

I used removable tape to hold the die cuts in place so I could get correct placement for my sentiment.  Next, I powdered the area and stamped the sentiment.  Then I removed the taped die cuts, added embossing powder and used my heat gun to melt it.

Now I was ready to glue the doilies into place.  So far, so good.

Now I was ready to tackle the flowers.  There are six stamps that layer up to create this beauty.  I stamped the detail in Pure Graphite and then starting with the lightest color, I followed the instructions that come with the set to align and stamp the layers.  I added each successive color layer ending with the center of the bloom stamped in Fresh Lemon.

The Leaves for this flower have four stamps, but I opted to only use three.  I started with the detail stamp in Pure Graphite and then stamped the fill color with Grass field.  I skipped the next stamp and used the last detail stamp in Shadow Creek.

Almost there... I added 3D tape to the back of the blooms so they would stand out against the White on White background. I glued them into place, along with the leaves and got a card I was quite happy with!

Thanks for looking!  Now... go make something pretty!
