ALL ABOUT LAYERING 4: Lesson 3

Hello and welcome to my blog.  I am slowly working my way through the Altenew Academy classes.  Working with Layering stamps takes practice.  For this lesson I used the Painted Poppy layering stamp and die set  and learned a new way to use sentiments.  Take a look.

Notice how the same sentiment is repeatedly stamped on the card front.  The final stamping is on the lower right so that it can be clearly read.  Lets start with a supply list to make this card:
  • Painted Poppy Layering Stamp and Die Set by Altenew
  • A2 card base, a black A2 layer and white watercolor paper cut to 4" x 5.25"
  • A sentiment stamp from your stash
  • Blue water color ink.  (I used Butterfly. by Jane Davenport)
  • Altenew Crisp Dye Ink in Burnt Red, Mahogany Bark, Shadow Creek and Grass Field

I started with the background watercolor paper.  I gave the paper a little spritz of water to make it take the color smoothly.  I loaded up my brush and make strokes back and forth across the paper allowing it to get lighter and lighter as I reached the bottom of the paper.

I Stamped the Poppy Twice in Jet Black and then stamped the first layer with Burnt Red and then the detail layer in Mahogany Bark.  Below you see where I stamped leaves and the bud with stems in Jet Black and then did the fill in stamp with Shadow Creek.  The detail stamp went on next in grass field.

When you add the Burnt Red to the center of the bud... it springs to life.

I glued my watercolor layer to the front of the card, arranged the flowers and secured them together with removable tape.

This allows you to pick up the flowers to see where to stamp.  I made sure to leave room for the full sentiment at the bottom.

Once all the stamping was done, I glued the flowers in place.  I liked how this card came out.  I hope you like it too.  I think this technique adds drama to the finished card.  Thanks for checking in.
